General Information:
Swamp Buggy (Marsh Buggy, Amphibious Cargo Carrier) is a multifunctional machine that could fulfill a multitude of needs while operating in otherwise inaccessible marshy areas, wetlands, dry lands or open water. The machine consists of an undercarriage (pontoons) and an upper structure (cab, engine and platform). On the platform, it is equipped with a winch and crane. This innovative engineering leads the way to pulling or carrying various objects such as loaded slide pontoons, winching pipe and cable, carrying cable reels, pulling cable plows and carrying drilling equipment. It can also be used extensively in soil boring and surveying as well as in transporting personnel and equipment.
The Buggy has a payload capacity from 22046lbs to 22069lbs and a platform or deck area measuring 14 feet wide and 16 feet long. It can be fitted with a 44092lbs winch with 164ft cable. SUNTON now has 3 kinds of traveling system equipped to the pontoons, including normal tracks, heavy duty tracks and solid rubber tires track system. With the heavy duty tracks, the machine could travel long time without much wearing on the hard surfaces. With the rubber tire track system, the quickest traveling speed could reach 10km/h.
The upper structure (cabin and engine) can be transported separately from the undercarriage (pontoons). The assembly of the machine is very easy. When the pontoons are placed, the upper structure can be simply mounted. For an operational machine only the cables to the drive motors needs to be connected. The assembly of the machine can be done within one hour.

Transportation
Swamp Cargo Carrier or Marsh Buggy could be shipped by container ship, RO-RO ship or bulk ship.
When it’s to be shipped by container ship, the machine is usually disassembled into 3 main parts in advance and loaded to the containers for ocean or long-distance shipment. In usual, one set medium size amphibious excavator usually uses 2x40’GPs plus 1x40’FR for shipment. When customer receives it, he will need one or two hours to reassemble it with help of one set 20-25tons crane and 2-3 persons at site.
If customer wants to receive a complete machine without being dismantled, just consider to ship it by bulk carrier or RO/RO ship. But we would like to remind the customer to pay attention to his local legal limit on the in-land transportation size firstly and then to determine which kind of ship to be selected. The transportation size of a complete set of marsh equipment without disassembling is usual beyond the in-land transportation limit. If customer insists on shipping the machine without disassembly, he could disassemble it for in-land transportation on the port after he receives it on the destination port.
In view of our experiences, the most cost-effective way to ship the machine is to disassemble it and ship the parts by bulk ship, but the shortcoming is that most bulk ships usually have only one shift in a month, much less than the container ships, which means the shipping time usually cost much more than container ships. Container ship and RO-RO ship shall be more or less same expensive but less shipping-time cost.
